The Environmental Land Management Scheme is being introduced by the government to replace both the current Basic Payment Scheme and Countryside Stewardship Scheme.

The government’s aim is to support farmers to deliver public goods and make a significant contribution to the environment.

6 Public Goods are being targeted targeted:

  • Thriving Plants and Wildlife
  • Clean and Plentiful Water
  • Beauty, Heritage and Engagement
  • Mitigation and Adaptation to Climate Change
  • Protection from and Mitigation of Hazards
  • Clean Air
